Medicine, Dentistry and Health
I am a Research Associate working as part of the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health and Research Care: Yorkshire and Humber (CLAHRC-YH). Within this role I have worked on a number of projects, mainly around the use of digital technology to help people with long term conditions to self-manage their health. I have also worked with the social care sector looking at barriers to use of telecare (e.g. pendant alarms) and other types of assistive technology.
Current Research Projects:
- SMART COPD: we have developed an app-based intervention to help people with COPD increase their physical activity. We are now evaluating the feasibility of using the app in a clinical setting (http://www.catch.org.uk/current-project/smart-copd/)
- Starting Motor: feasibility study of using a mobile device to help people with Type 2 Diabetes control their weight and HbA1c levels (http://www.biomedcentral.com/1472-6947/16/92)
- Telecare Barriers: writing up the results of a qualitative investigation into barriers to Telecare use (http://eprints.whiterose.ac.uk/84696/)
