Professor Annalu Waller from the University of Dundee gave a keynote presentation describing her work on developing context awareness in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices to improve their function for young people.

The Rehabilitation and Assistive Technologies Group at Sheffield were well represented. Dr Peter Cudd presented a paper titled ‘Software for dementia – the need for a systematic approach’ and Claire Bentley gave a paper titled ‘“It’s great for others, but it isn’t for me” – exploration of the barriers to Telecare use’.

The exhibition featured a number of assistive technology suppliers and research centres including Possum, TherapyBox, RSL Steeper, Designability, Advanced Digital Institute and Health Design and Technology Institute.
